Mets starter and former Pirate Clay Holmes was struck by a 111-m.p.h. line drive off the bat of Yankees rookie Spencer Jones and has broken his fibula, according to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza.
Mendoza said postgame that Holmes's injury is a "huge blow" to the team and that Holmes "is going to be down a long time."
My take: That's a tough one to siuffer, because recovery is up to three months, then ramping up the baseball activity. Best case, two months minimum. Here's hoping he returns at the low end of the timeline.
