Apologies, World Cup followers. After heavy sustained winds took out my power, Wi-Fi and even my local cell tower yesterday, I finally have all modes of communication back and look forward to World Cup coverage Friday, especially with the USMNT in action.
I missed most of the second half of the first game and all of the others. Without being able to write intelligently about them, here are the game-highlight videos for each:
• Czechia 1, South Africa 1:
• Switzerland 4, Bosnia Herzegovina 1:
• Canada 6, Qatar 1:
Canada tops the table with six points and Switzerland have four. They play each other in their final Group B game and the Swiss need a victory to win the group. Bosnia Herzegovina has a mathematical chance, but it would require a combination of a Switzerland draw or loss and Bosnia's own victory over Qatar to combine to erase a six-goal differential with Switzerland.
Mexico 1, South Korea 0
Mexico secured a top-two finish in the group with its win, so it will advance to the Round of 32. South Korea and Czechia face each other in their third Group A game. Czechia needs a win to have a chance to advance. To advance, South Africa would need to defeat Mexico by three or more goals, and have South Korea and Czechia draw.
