Men’s basketball: McConnell sparks Pacers to Game 3 win
Pittsburgh's own T.J. McConnell sparked the Pacers off the bench, integral to a 40-point second quarter, as Indiana beat the Thunder, 116-107, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, to take a two-games-to-one lead in the NBA Final.
McConnell played just 15 minutes in the game, but scored 10 points, had five assists and a game-high five steals, and the Pacers were plus-12 in points while he was on the court, the third-best in the game among all players and the highest by percentage based on minutes played.
McConnell's tenacity all over the court charged the home crowd and he paired with Bennedict Mathurin, who scored a game-high 27 points in 22 minutes, to deliver some game-turning plays:
T.J. MCCONNELL ALL-OUT HUSTLE SEQUENCE!!
Crafty dime. Poke the ball out. Force the turnover.
The former Duquesne star has been a linchpin for the Pacers' success this postseason, something that's been discussed at times in comments, but his impact in Game 3 was his best of the postseason. Game 4 is Friday night. Tune in. This series has been good basketball.
