The Avalanche acquired center Nicolas Roy from the Maple Leafs in exchange for a conditional first-round pick in 2027 (top-10 protected) and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2026.
Roy has five goals and 15 assists in 59 games this season, playing third-line minutes, winning 52.9 percent of draws.
My take: The Avs are shoring up the roster for their seemingly inevitable trip to the Cup finals. They overpayed for Roy, who does bring Cup experience, but they're all-in.
