The Avalanche got back on form after a rough Game 3, beating the Wild, 5-2, at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn., taking a three games to one lead.
The final score was not reflective of how tight the contest was — two goals were empty-netters — but Avs got unlikely contributions to earn the win. Tied 1-1 in the third period, Colorado took the lead Ross Colton scored his first ff the playoffs and Parker Kelly scored his first — the game-winner — at 11:32.
The Avs got back on the front foot, outshooting the Wild, 34-21, with only a sharp performance by Wild goalie Jesper Wallstedt keeping the team in the contest.
Game 5 will be in Denver on Wednesday.
My take: This is a very good Wild team, but the Avs can just beat you in so many ways. Too deep to beat in a long series.
