After Sweet 16 games finished around 1 a.m., the Elite Eight is set.
• In the East, No. 1 Duke outlasted No. 5 St. John's, 75-70. They will face No. 2 UConn, who edged No. 3 Michigan State, 67-63. That game will be Sunday.
• The West Regional will also have a 1-2 matchup, as top seed Arizona battles Purdue on Saturday night.
• The Midwest had top-seeded Michigan facing No. 6 Tennessee, after the Vols dismantled second seed Iowa State, 76-62, with smothering defense and elite ball movement in the offensive end. It is their third straight Elite Eight. They will battle Sunday,
• Saturday brings the South Regional to a close, with No. 3 Illinois, taking on Cinderalla nine-seed Iowa.
My Take: Not quite sure who set the TV schedule for this tournament, but I'm pretty sure it's a vampire. Whoever wins the South will be at minimum a mild surprise from a bracket perspective. A Big Ten clash, to boot. The Duke-St. John's game was really good. A great run by the Red Storm, but Duke-UConn and Arizona-Purdue are now the marquee matchups.
