Legendary basketball broadcaster and author Dick Vitale announced Monday the he has been diagnosed with melanoma in his lung and liver cavity. This is Vitale's second melanoma diagnosis as he's battled various cancers for the better part of a decade.
Vitale, 86, said in his statement that "I've beaten melanoma. I've beaten lymphoma. I've beaten vocal cord cancer. I've beaten lymph node cancer. I'm four-for-four and I'm fully confident I'm going to make it five-for-five." He then stated he would soon be starting immunotherapy to battle the melanoma.
My take: All the best to him. That's quite a list of cancers he's beaten. Why should anyone doubt him this fifth time?
