The Ravens have pulled out of th etrade for Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, with several reports indicating he failed his physical, potentially related to a meniscus injury Crosby suffered in 2025. The trade would have been complete Wednesday at 12 p.m. ET, the official start of the NFL's 2026 league year.
The trade would have sent the Raiders two first-round picks — one in 2026 and one in 2027. Now the Raiders have to put another $30 million against their salary cap for 2026, for a player who may still be injured, while the Ravens have a massive need to improve their pass rush. Without having to pay Crosby, they could divert those funds toward a free agent like Trey Hendrickson, formerly of the Bengals, but there are no other game-wrecking EDGE guys left in free agency.
My take: There could still be a trade for Crosby — often teams will have different opinions on injuries — so he could still end up somewhere else. The Ravens are in something of a pickle. If Hendrickson is healthy, he would be their best bet, and he could be had on a one-year deal. If not, they will have to address that position in the draft (they get their 14th-overall pick back) or a trade for another player.
