Game 1 of the second-round series between the Wild and the Avalanche at Ball Arena in Denver was nothing like the Canadiens–Lightning Game 7, with the Western Conference teams combining for 15 goals and 79 combined shots on goal in a 9-6 Avalanche win.
Colorado got out to a 3-0 lead, but the Wild stormed back and tied the game at 5-5 in the second period. It was never tied again, with the Avalanche scoring four times, two by Cale Makar:
My take: Entertaining as heck, but the Wild don't stand a chance playing games like this against the Avs. Time to take another tack.
