Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski set a new Major League Baseball mark by throwing 57 pitches over 100 miles per hour in a 5-1 win Monday over the Cardinals at American Family Field in Milwaukee. That is the largest number of pitches thrown by one pitcher in one game since they were officially measured and recorded in 2008.
Misiorowski struck out 12 in 7.0 innings pitched, giving up two hits and a walk. His record improved to 5-2, while his ERA dropped to 1.83.
The Brewers, 31-20, improved their division lead to 2.5 games over the second-place Cards. Their plus-73 run differential trails only the the Dodgers (+106) and Braves (+102) in all of MLB.
My take: The kid's amazing. Tremendous control for someone who throws that hard. The Brewers are beginning to assert themselves. Watch out.
