The Avalanche are getting the band back together — a key member, at least — form their 2022 Stanley Cup team, acquiring center Nazem Kadri from the Flames right at the trade deadline. The Avs also received a 2027 fourth-round pick; the Flames received forward Victor Olofsson, the rights to prospect forward Max Curran, a conditional 2028 first-round pick and a conditional 2027 second-round pick.
The Avalanche have completely reshaped the center position in their bottom six. Kadri will now likely center the third line, and newly acquired Nicolas Roy will spearhead the fourth line.
My take: Nathan MacKinnon, Brock Nelson, Kadri and Roy down the middle. The Avs are leaving nothing to chance.
