The Pistons, the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference, fell behind 3-1 in their opening-round series against the Magic, then won three straight to take the series. Now they're trying another seven-game comeback, this time entering Friday's game down 3-2, after losing the last three games.
The Pistons beat the Cavaliers, 115-94, in Game 6 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. Detroit had a three-point lead at the half, but went off in the next two quarters, outscoring the Cavs, 61-43. In the end, led by Cade Cunningham and 48 points from the bench, the 21-point margin of victory was tied the largest in NBA history for a Game 6 road win. That bench play was led by forward Paul Reed, who scored 17 points in just 16 minutes, adding six rebounds, an assist and a block. Guard Marcus Sasser had modest production with nine points, but the Pistons were an astonishing plus-27 in his 18 minutes of play.
My take: The Knicks await this series winner. They swept the Sixers and have been off so long they might think the season's over, which is usually their situation at this stage in May.
