Chelsea fired head coach Liam Rosenior after just 106 days at the helm after the club did something it hadn't since 1912 — lose five consecutive games without scoring a goal. His firing comes just three days before the club's FA Cup semifinal against Leeds.
Assistant Calum McFarlane will take over the team for the second time this season, managing two games after Enzo Maresca abruptly left the team until Rosenior was hired.
Chelsea are eighth in table with four league matches remaining. With a maximum 12 points available, they would need to win all four matches and have utter collapses by the three teams ahead to qualify for UEFA Champions League.
My take: With just six matches remaining, it's doubtful Chelsea hires a full-time replacement. That's good news until the next poor soul who gets the gig.
