The Sabres stormed the Bruins at TD Garden in Boston, opening Game 4 with three goals in the first 10 minutes of the first period — four overall in the period — then cruised to a 6-1 win, taking a 3-1 series lead, as the Game 5 heads to Buffalo on Tuesday.
Buffalo bottled up Boston pretty well, limiting them to 24 shots on goal. the lone bruins goal came shorthanded with 40 seconds left in the game, spoiling Alex Lyon's shutout.
My take: The Bruins had no answer. No excuse for their poor start at home, down two games to one, but the Sabres were relentless. Should be quite a scene at KeyBank Center on Tuesday, with the franchise looking to win its first playoff series since 2011.
