Commissioner Rob Manfred was so blown away by the attendance and viewership of the World Baseball Classic, that he told a podcast Thursday that he would consider using it in place of the All-Star Game. 

Manfred said that the WBC drew all-time event-attendance in the group round, with all the elimination games extending the record. Viewership was at an all-time high, double what the event drew in 2023.

Manfred gave no specifics on how it would replace the All-Star Game, noting that it can't come until 2028, as they have an All-Star Game contract with Fox through 2028's game. 

My take: A logistical nightmare. Unlike the NHL, MLB can't condense it's schedule with twice the number of games to its regular season over the same number of months. There's no way teams will want to risk star players to injury in the middle of the season and there are too many nations, who would each have to suspend their leagues to particpate. Maybe Manfred was just spitballing, but MLB just isn't built for a 4 Nations tournament.
