Russell Wilson has accepted an offer from CBS to replace Matt Ryan on the "NFL Today" panel as an analyst, opting to forgo an offer from the Jets to be a backup quarterback to Geno Smith. Ryan left the program to be the Falcons' president of football operations.
Wilson, 37, has not officially retired from the National Football League.
My take: If I got offered millions of dollars to not be a Jet, I'd take it too. I don't know the structure of his CBS deal, but I'd expect he has an out at any point to take an NFL job. Once injuries come calling, he might find a better NFL situation.
