Bears center Drew Dalman informed the team Tuesday that he is retiring from professional football.
Dalman, 27, is coming off his first Pro Bowl season, his first with the Bears after four seasons with the Falcons, who drafted the Stanford grad in the 2021 draft's fourth round.
Dalman had two years and $28 million remaining on a three-year contract he signed with the Bears out of free agency. He was an integral part of the offensive line's success in helping Chicago to an 11-6 record and its first NFC North division title since 2018.
My take: The trend continues of starting NFL players retiring in their 20s. Dalman has not shared reasons yet, but good for him, leaving on his own terms.
