• Hintz just had a prime opportunity while the Penguins were changing. Whiffed on a shot.
• Hryckowian with a feed in front to Bâck. Jarry makes the save look easy. Already through 10 minutes here in the first period.
• Incredible to see how Rust and Crosby work with one another. Seems like they know where they are on the ice at all times. Beauty of a back-hand feed from Rust led to a chance by Crosby from the right circle, but it sails wide.
• McGroarty can't get one past Oettinger after an intial shot from Koivunen was handled and then bobbled. Both teams with three shots here in the opening 6:30.
• Dumba with a quick shot that created a rebound to Oettinger's left, but Mantha's shot appeared to sail across the crease.
• Picture-perfect feed from Crosby to Rust there in the offensive zone. Rust couldn't get his stick down to control it.
• Penguins applying some pressure in the offensive zone but nothing to show for it thus far in terms of opportunities.
