The Penguins and Capitals could still meet in this year's playoffs. And Ovechkin, of course, could choose to re-sign in the offseason. But there's a decent chance that Saturday could be Ovechkin's last game in Pittsburgh, and Sunday's game in Washington his last game against the Penguins and last home game as a Capital.
"Like any game against Washington, you get up for it," Sidney Crosby said on Thursday of this potentially being his last two games against Ovechkin. "But with that potential, just try to enjoy it, enjoy the competition. I'm not sure what's going to happen, but with every year the chance of that being the case increases. I know Ovi's said that he's going to take the summer, so just try to enjoy it. If it is the last couple of games, you want to embrace that."
