• Penguins leave little doubt with four unanswered goals to secure a 5-1 win. A 3-for-4 showing on the power play. Second time this season they've scored three power-play goals in a game.
• GOAL: Hayes scores against his former team. Breakaway with the backhand. Great outlet pass by Wotherspoon. Penguins 5, Flyers 1
• GOAL: Novak buries one for the Penguins' third power-play goal of the night. Nice back-hand feed near the boards from Letang. Penguins 4, Flyers 1
• Another power play for the Penguins with 7:57 to go here in the third. Michkov gets two minutes for slashing.
• Penguins fans aren't the only ones who get annoyed when their favorite team doesn't shoot on the power play.
• Koivunen heading to the box for interference. Flyers are 1 for 4 on the power play tonight.
• No goal. Goaltender interference.
• Mantha scores from the left circle but it appears to be under review. Coach's challenge. Looking over it to see if Malkin interfered with Vladar.
• Boko with a nice drive to the net but Dewar can't finish the rebound chance. Couple good chances here early on.
• Vladar with a wicked glove save to rob Crosby in close. Nice feed from Malkin there, too. Sid had a hat trick in mind.
• Puck drops for the third.
• End second period: Some extracurriculars after the final horn. Kindel in the middle of it. Real tough guy move by Couturier to grab him like that from behind.
• Andrae breaks his stick and interferes with Letang as the latter chased after the puck. We'll play 4 on 4 for 42 seconds before the Penguins get a power play.
• Crosby heading to the box for tripping with 2:36 left in the second. Big kill here for the visitors.
• GOAL: Man, Rust with a phenomenal shot from the left circle that beats Vladar over his glove hand. Penguins 3, Flyers 1
• Couturier gets called for holding Shea behind the net. Another power play for the Penguins.
• Sid just took an awkward-angle shot that clanked off the mask of Vladar. Wouldn't put it past him to somehow score on a play like that.
• GOAL: Crosby does it again on the power play. Cross-ice pass from Karlsson, back-hand feed from Rust and Crosby scores on one knee. Time: 8:07. Penguins 2, Flyers 1
• Penguins kill off the two remaining penalties and now they'll get a power play of their own. Abols gets two minutes for holding.
• Clifton with a beauty of a feed to Kindel right out of the penalty box. Nice short-handed opportunity and it sneaks past Vladar, but goes wide.
• Things starting to boil over after Jarry takes a swipe at Sanheim.
• GOAL: Foerster credited with a power-play goal. And now to make matters worse, Letang goes to the box for high sticking. Brutal two minutes. Time: 5:36. Tied at 1-1
• Beauty of a shift there for Lizotte. Failed to clear the puck once, but didn't do it twice.
• Now Clifton heads to the box for interference. Flyers get a 5-on-3 opportunity for 1:17.
• Karlsson heading to the box for tripping with 16:20 left in the second. Came shortly after Konecny rang a shot off the post.
• Second period is underway.
• Good to see Kindel, McGroarty and Koivunen play like they did in that first period. They were rewarded with more ice time, too.
• End first period: Minor scuffle at the horn but nothing crazy. Both teams finished with eight shots in the first. Penguins with five high-danger chances compared to two for the Flyers.
• Things starting to get more and more physical. It's building.
• Third line is looking pretty good here in the first. Putting some pressure on Vladar. Good defensive work by Andrae to clear a loose puck in Vladar's crease.
• Nice stat per Penguins PR: Including everyone to ever play for the Flyers, only 38 skaters in NHL history have more goals at Xfinity Mobile Arena (formerly Wells Fargo Center) than Crosby's 27. Crosby is the NHL's all-time leader in goals (58), assists (78) and points (136) against the Flyers.
• GOAL: Crosby cleans up the rebound after a Rust shot. Philly fans don't like that one. That's 17 goals and 28 points for the captain, who is eight points away from tying MarioLemieux for the franchise points record. Time: 9:18. Penguins 1, Flyers 0
• McGroarty with some nice pressure here on the PK.
• Scratch that. Mantha will serve the penalty. Lizotte for slashing. The latter left the bench briefly to get some medical attention, it looks like. Was bleeding from the nose.
• Initially only saw the hit by Hathaway there. Didn't see what followed until now. Lizotte's going to the box for something that warrants a penalty.
• Jarry comes up clutch on more than one occasion there. Made a stop on an odd-man rush and didn't let the Flyers build on any momentum in their offensive zone.
• Flyers turnover turned into a 3-on-2 opportunity and a shot wide of the net by McGroarty. Man, can you imagine if he buried his first shot back?
• First shot of the night belongs to Brink. Stopped in close by Jarry.
• Faceoff: Penguins vs. Flyers, 7:08 p.m., Crosby vs. Cates
• Penguins' lines and pairings:
Kevin Hayes - Sidney Crosby - Bryan Rust Tommy Novak - Evgeni Malkin - Anthony Mantha Rutger McGroarty - Ben Kindel - Ville Koivunen Boko Imama - Blake Lizotte - Connor Dewar
