Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was eliminated from the playoffs in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference final on Sunday with a 2-1 loss in overtime. Former Penguin Alex Nylander scored the series-winner in overtime for the Marlies.
AHL-contracted forward Aidan McDonough scored the Penguins' lone goal, a power-play tally in the first period assisted by Avery Hayes and Harrison Brunicke. Toronto's Easton Cowan tied the game in the second period. Nylander's goal came 13:44 into the extra frame, just getting by Brunicke in the slot:
Sergei Murashov stopped 37 of 39 shots. He finishes the playoffs with a .930 save percentage and a 2.15 goals-against average in 15 games.
Tristan Broz was Wilkes-Barre's leading scorer in the postseason, with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 15 games. Four players tied for the lead in goals, with four -- McDonough, Bill Zonnon, Rutger McGroarty and Ville Koivunen.
