The Penguins assigned Tommy Budnick, Brayden Edwards, Zach Gallant, Max Graham, Brent Johnson, Daniel Laatsch, Emil Pieniniemi and Zach Urdahl to the Nailers on Sunday after Wilkes-Barre/Scranton wrapped up its preseason schedule.
The two more notable names there are left-handed defensemen Laatsch and Pieniniemi, a pair of NHL-contracted first-year pros. With the left side of Wilkes-Barre’s blue line already having Ryan Graves, Sebastian Aho, Alexander Alexeyev and Owen Pickering, it forces some of the rookies down to the ECHL.
