The Penguins still don't have a timeline for when Sidney Crosby will return to the lineup, but joining the team for a full morning skate on Tuesday was a step in the right direction. He took line rushes with the suspended Evgeni Malkin and injured Kevin Hayes, and worked on some individual skating drills once the team got into the special teams portion of practice.
Dan Muse didn't say that Crosby had been cleared for contact when I asked. Asked if Crosby might be ahead of schedule, Muse just said that Crosby is taking a "going in the right direction."
"Nothing's changed right now in terms of status, nothing changed terms of anything else," he said. "We'll continue to take it a step at a time."
I followed up and asked if Crosby returning on this road trip is a realistic possibility, and Muse said, "we're just taking it a day at a time."
