Kevin Hayes, back in lineup, 'positive' amid scratches
Kevin Hayes will be back in the Penguins' lineup here tonight, centering Justin Brazeau and Anthony Mantha to account for one of the biggest forward lines in NHL history.
"No, really, it just might be," Brazeau told me.
I spoke with Hayes one-on-one after the morning skate about being limited to 24 of the team's 60 games, initially because of a shoulder injury sustained early in training camp, then through being a healthy scratch for 20 of the past 23 games.
"It's obviously tough when you're not playing every night," he told me. "But, staying positive, being a good teammate, making sure everyone's in their best spirits. Yeah, I mean, obviously you want to play every night, but stuff happens. Tough injury to start the year, the team found their way. I got back in, we struggled. And then since I've been out, the team's been outstanding. So, I mean everyone's played unbelievable. They really are."
