Ville Koivunen scored the overtime winner in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 3-2 win over the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday to extend the Penguins' win streak to seven games to open the season.
The goal was Koivunen's fourth of the year. It was his second point of the game after previously having the primary assist on Danton Heinen's power play goal that forced overtime. Koivunen's 11 points in six games ranks him second in the league in scoring only behind Heinen's 12.
• The Penguins' first goal came from Tristan Broz, his fourth of the year.
• Filip Larsson stopped 32 of 34 shots to improve to 2-0 on the season.
• Avery Hayes had a game misconduct for kneeing in the second period.
• Sam Poulin's six shots on goal led the team. Ryan Graves tied for second and led the defensemen with four. Graves picked up his fourth assist on Heinen's goal.
• The veteran scratches were Sebastian Aho and Valtteri Puustinen. Aho has been the veteran scratch for six of seven games to open the season, while this was Puustinen's second scratch.
• Next up: A Wednesday home game against one of the only two other undefeated teams in the league, the 5-0 Providence Bruins.
