The Penguins improved to 3-10 in shootouts with Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Senators, capped off by heroics by Ben Kindel in beating Linus Ullmark:
Egor Chinakhov also scored on his attempt, while Rickard Rakell failed to score on his. Drake Batherson scored on Stuart Skinner first, but then Skinner proceeded to stop Tim Stutzle and Shane Pinto.
"When we have Stu back there, it's gives us a lot of confidence, gives the shooters confidence, for sure. Either goalie, I think we're confident," Kindel said. "I think just it's nice to see the puck go in a couple more times now on the shootout, and get a few more bounces for sure."
A 3-10 record in shootouts isn't exactly great, but two of those wins have now come in the last week after the Penguins also beat the Jets in a shootout on Saturday. Finally breaking out of the slump has the players just feeling more confident going into shootout attempts.
"It's definitely not the same feeling that we had in the past," Rakell said. "We're trying to have more fun with it, even though it's a lot on the line. You've got to be patient when you take shots."
