The Islanders' Jonathan Drouin was suspended one game by the NHL today for this heavy cross-check to Connor Dewar's face last night:
This came with 15 seconds left. Drouin received a major penalty and game misconduct.
The Department of Player Safety said that Drouin claimed he didn’t intend to strike Dewar in that manner, but noted that he’s required to be in control of his stick regardless. His previous fine for cross-checking in 2022 was also taken into consideration.
