Ville Koivunen has split his season so far between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Pittsburgh, racking up 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) in 28 AHL games but just six points (two goals, four assists) in 29 NHL games. I asked him after Tuesday's morning skate what he needs to do differently in this latest NHL stint.
"Just try to use my own strengths more and play with the puck a little bit more, and just try to be confident with the puck," he said. "I think of my good games are with the puck. I just need to do that and work hard and, of course, play a good two-way game too."
And by being confident with the puck ... that means shooting more, right?
"Yeah, yeah, that's true," he said with a laugh. "I have to try to shoot a little bit more when I have the chance and not always look for the pass."
