• GOAL: Bo Horvat wins it in OT for the Islanders.
• Brett Kulak, Evgeni Malkin, Tommy Novak on now.
• Starting OT: Erik Karlsson, Bryan Rust, Sidney Crosby
• Overtime.
• Final minute.
• Islanders call timeout with 1:37 left.
• Two minutes remain.
• Call on the ice stands, no goal. They looked at it for awhile. It was under Ilya Sorokin's pad and you couldn't tell conclusively whether it went over the line. And because it was called no-goal on the ice, that stays.
• Penguins are celebrating like they scored but officials didn't signal a goal.
• GOAL: It's tied with 4:36. Ryan Pulock with a wrist shot, looked like Stuart Skinner got a piece of it. Penguins 4, Islanders 4
• Yeah, no penalty after review.
• Pause. No. Erik Karlsson high-sticked Sidney Crosby. So they're reviewing it.
• Now Penguins get a power play with 5:49 left. Anders Lee gets two for high-sticking Sidney Crosby.
• Penguins kill the penalty.
• Penguins to the PK. Sidney Crosby gets two for a trip. Evgeni Malkin slammed the boards in frustration. He had been arguing with a ref on his last shift.
• GOAL: And the Penguins quickly retain the lead. Justin Brazeau tips in a Brett Kulak shot. Penguins 4, Islanders 3
• GOAL: Mathew Barzal ties it. One-timer from Adam Pelech that goes post and in. Penguins 3, Islanders 3
• Sidney Crosby hit Simon Holmstrom over the gloves with his stick twice then tripped him, no call.
• Penguins have the first three shots of this period.
• Back to five-on-five.
• Third period is underway.
• Noel Acciari has still yet to be on the ice for a shot on goal against, including in his team-leading 1:40 on the penalty-kill.
• End of the second. Goals from Egor Chinakhov and Bryan Rust that period have the Penguins up 3-2. Shots are 23-15 Penguins. They have seven seconds on the power play to open the third.
• Penguins get another power play with 1:53 left in the second. Carson Soucy held Egor Chinakhov.
• GOAL: Welcome back, Bryan Rust. He just scored from well below the goal line, banking it off of the back of Ilya Sorokin. Penguins 3, Islanders 2
• For anyone wondering about the penalty that could have been called with the Pageau-Crosby moment, the actual penalty is called butt-ending and it's seldom called. But if that's not it, I don't know what is.
• Right after that all happened, Dan Muse was giving it to the officials for awhile, seemingly arguing about there not being a call for anything. Lots of four-letter words in there.
• Sidney Crosby is back.
• Oh, no. Sidney Crosby is hurt on the faceoff. Looked like he got tangled up with Jean-Gabriel Pageau and the butt end of Pageau's stick jabbed him in the torso. He went right down the tunnel.
• Anyway. What the heck was Dean Evason doing to Egor Chinakhov in Columbus? But also, he's not the first guy to have a breakout year here or see a kind of resurgence. Maybe target another young reclamation project, like Alexis Lafreniere?
• Penguins kill the penalty.
• Penguins to the PK with 15:52 left. Erik Karlsson put the puck over the glass.
• GOAL: Egor Chinakhov snipes a shot from the left circle to tie it. Tommy Novak set him up from behind the net. Penguins 2, Islanders 2
• Connor Clifton with a big hit on Matthew Schaefer.
• Second period is underway.
• Noel Acciari was the only Penguin not on the ice for a shot on goal against that period.
• End of the first, Penguins trail 2-1. Lone goal from Anthony Mantha. Shots are 11-8 Penguins. Penguins were the better team for most of the period but chunked it in the last two minutes. Stuart Skinner was frustrated at the end there and slammed his stick on the boards, not something you usually see from him.
• GOAL: Woof. Islanders take the lead with 2.3 left in the period on a delayed penalty. Matthew Schaefer with a laser of a shot through traffic. Islanders 2, Penguins 1
• GOAL: Islanders had been pushing as the period comes to an end and they benefit from a weird bounce. Stuart Skinner made the initial save, Ryan Shea tried to sweep it away but put it right on the stick of one of the Islanders. Skinner makes another save, Shea just misses on sweeping that rebound away too and Bo Horvat pokes it in. Penguins 1, Islanders 1
• Goal aside, the Penguins have dominated after that first minute.
• GOAL: Anthony Mantha stays hot. Justin Brazeau fends off Adam Pelech with one hand and uses his other to make the pass to Mantha, and Mantha pops it over the shoulder of Ilya Sorokin. Penguins 1, Islanders 0
• Ben Kindel and Anthony Mantha just got away with simultaneously hauling down Matthew Schaefer, should have been at least one hooking call there. Fans aren't happy.
• Nothing on the power play.
• Second unit: Ryan Shea, Justin Brazeau, Ben Kindel, Egor Chinakhov, Evgeni Malkin
• Top power play is Erik Karlsson, Sidney Crosby, Anthony Mantha, Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell
• Egor Chinakhov gets a partial breakaway and draws a hooking penalty out of Scott Mayfield. Penguins to the power play with 18:06 left in the first.
• Islanders with a pair of good chances on the first shift of the game. Stuart Skinner is locked in.
• This is underway.
• Islanders' lines, pairings:
Ondrej Palat - Bo Horvat - Mat Barzal Emil Heineman - Jonathan Drouin - Simon Holmstrom Anders Lee - JG Pageau - Anthony Duclair Kyle MacLean - Casey Cizikas - Marc Gatcomb
