Wilkes-Barre/Scranton suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday, falling 3-1 to the also-undefeated Providence Bruins in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
All four goals were scored in the second period. The Bruins took a 2-0 lead, only for Valtteri Puustinen to quickly answer with his second goal of the year. The Bruins added another goal late in the period.
• Chase Pietila had the lone assist on Puustinen's goal.
• Sergei Murashov stopped 13 of 16 shots.
• Puustinen led with four shots on goal. Ryan Graves tied for second and led the defensemen with three.
• Joona Koppanen and Sebastian Aho were the veteran scratches.
• The Penguins and Bruins are still tied for the top of the league standings with 14 points, with the Penguins 7-1 and the Bruins now 7-0. The Bruins are of course ahead on the tiebreaker.
