Crosby: 'Pretty similar' anticipation for Olympics
Sidney Crosby is 38 years old, gearing up for his third Olympics and 10th time suiting up for Canada in an international competition.
But if you ask him, he's still as fired up for these Olympics as he was as a 22-year-old kid in 2010, but for a different reason.
"It's pretty similar," he said of the feeling at a practice last week. "The first one, you don't know what to expect, so that's a eyes-wide-open kind of thing and trying to take it all in. But I think the second one (in 2014), being more familiar with with guys, with the situation and what to expect, that helps. But I think the anticipation now with not having gone for so long, it kind of feels like that comes back a bit more since it has been awhile."
Crosby has been asked countless times over the last year whether this will be his last Olympics, and he's brushed off the thought every time. He's not thinking about where he'll be in 2030 -- he's just focusing on bringing home gold yet again.
"The stakes are high," he said. "So I think having experience in that way definitely helps. But those are the ones you want to be a part of as a hockey player, for sure"
