• That's final: Kings 3, Penguins 2
• Empty net with 1:21 to go after a Kings icing.
• Crosby, Malkin and Rust on the ice together late.
• GOAL: Fiala beats Murashov to give the visitors their first lead. Just walked around Karlsson and beat Murashov high. Time: 8:08. Kings, 3-2
• GOAL: Perry wrists one past Murashov. Time: 15:11. Tied at 2-2
• Kuemper with an exceptional pad save on a shot by Rust following the give-and-go from Crosby.
• Murashov is so calm, cool and collected. Makes the difficult saves, but also makes the easy ones look easier than they actually are. Showed such a calm demeanor on that glove save against Moore.
• A defensive-zone turnover by Rust was almost disastrous there.
• Third period is underway.
• Keep an eye on the Penguins and the officials in the third period after Crosby's comments post-game yesterday and Muse losing it on PeterMacDougall late in the second period. Last season, the Penguins were 0-3-2 with MacDougall as one of the referees.
• End second period: Shots were 9-9 for the period. Penguins lead 23-19 overall and 10-4 in blocked shots.
• Koppanen tried to flip the puck out of the zone on the forehand, a little too much strength as the puck goes over the glass for a delay of game penalty with 3:20 to play in the period.
• Byfield with a short-handed chance on a 2-on-1 is stuffed by Murashov. There's the first real opportunity to see the athleticism for the rookie goalie.
• Penguins kill the penalty, allow three shots and now draw a second power play, a hooking penalty on Clarke.
• Heinen penalized for high-sticking Perry.
• GOAL: Mantha with a sweet tip pass between the legs to Letang to start the give-n-go and Mantha buries it. Time: 7:48. Penguins, 2-1
• Kindel has returned to the bench.
• Mantha draws a tripping call behind the net on Ceci.
• Penguins kill the penalty on Graves, allowing just one shot on goal by Clarke.
• Graves with a cross-check up high on Fiala, called for interference.
• Wotherspoon shot on goal, rebound bounces toward Crosby, who appeared to be hooked down without a call. Dewar started the shift on the left-wing.
• Second period underway. No Kindel.
• End first period: Penguins with a 14-10 shot advantage.
• With Kindel out, Dewar now skating alongside Crosby and Rust on the top line.
• Kindel takes a hard hit from Clarke and heads down the runway toward the locker room. Nasty the way his head went into the boards.
• GOAL: Kings even it 24 seconds into the power play. Kopitar takes an awkward-angle shot and beats Murashov. Time: 5:26. Tied at 1-1
• Crosby's heading to the box for hooking with 5:26 left. First power play of the day for either team.
• Penguins with an 8-4 shot advantage more than halfway through the first period.
• GOAL: Malkin with a perfect centering feed to the front of the net. Novak buries a shot in close. Wotherspoon picks up an assist, too. Time: 11:12. Penguins, 1-0
• Really nice sequence there by the second line and top defensive pairing. Controlled play in their own zone and generated some nice opportunities. Crisp passes, too.
• LA's looking more crisp here early on. Couple of shots on Murashov here in the first four-plus minutes, including one from Clarke that Murashov was able to squeeze.
• Murashov getting some action early. Made his first NHL save on a long shot from Kempe.
• Faceoff: Penguins vs. Kings, Crosby vs. Byfield, 2:08 p.m.
