Ryan Shea, a prominent piece of the Penguins' season to date, was put out of the game this afternoon by a high hit from Adam Lowry, the Jets' 6-foot-5, 210-pound captain:
That was midway through the second period. Shea tried to return later with a full cage but couldn't last, and the defense played a man down for the final 36 minutes.
How high was high?
Let's just say that there was enough noise on the home side over the matter that the NHL's Department of Player Safety might ... eh, never mind.
Dan Muse had no update on Shea's status afterward.
