Silovs delivers with 'huge saves' down the stretch
Despite allowing three first-period goals on just 12 shots and seeing four pucks find the back of the net overall, ArtursSilovs was a big reason why the Penguins were able to come from behind to beat the Blue Jackets this afternoon.
Silovs made 21 saves en route to his fourth straight winning decision, but none were more important than the three he came up with during this sequence with under five and a half minutes to go in regulation:
That right there is Silovs simply keeping the Penguins in the game. As they continued to build momentum while facing a 4-3 deficit, allowing a goal in that situation would have killed any chance at completing the comeback. He did his part, which allowed RickardRakell to do his with the game-tying goal before SidneyCrosby followed suit with the overtime winner.
"Just some huge saves in there," DanMuse said. "Those are the ones, too, when you go back, I didn't like some of the chances that we gave up there early on, but we know now it's a tight game and now we're trying to crawl back into it. One, you gotta make sure that when it does come time to defend, you can't give them another one if you wanna give yourself a chance. Two, you're gonna need some saves, and he was there for those. I thought he did a great job, especially some big saves there in the third period to give us a chance to be in that situation at the end of the game."
