Nedeljkovic needles Crosby, Letang for 'lucky tip'
Alex Nedeljkovic, now with the Sharks, quipped that the first goal to get by him in the Penguins' 3-0 victory tonight here at SAP Center, was just "a lucky tip" by his former captain, Sidney Crosby.
"I think (Crosby) thought (Kris Letang) was going to send that puck wide like usual," Nedeljkovic deadpanned. "He just closed his eyes and it hit his stick."
Nedeljkovic almost got through that without breaking character and cracking a grin, too.
Nedeljkovic admitted that he had a "little extra juice" going up against his former team -- not so much for any kind of showdown against his former goaltending partner Tristan Jarry, but for the bragging rights when he inevitably caught up with his former teammates postgame.
"You would've liked the win," he said. "I think it's more now I've got to go see those guys and talk to them and listen to Sid talk about how he scored a goal, so ... "
Classic Ned. And he was great in this one, too -- 24 saves on 26 shots, including 18 in the first period alone. Can't fault him for that first goal at all, "lucky" or not.
