Penguins forward prospect Tanner Howe made his season debut and pro debut in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 6-2 win over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Sunday. Howe, the Penguins' 20-year-old 2024 second-round pick, had been out since undergoing knee surgery in April.
Howe debuted on the left wing of the second line alongside Aaron Huglen and Avery Hayes. He earned his first pro point in the win, picking up a secondary assist on a power play. He had no shots on goal and a tripping penalty.
• Matt Dumba had four assists -- three primary. He has six points (one goal, five assists) in his last two games, and two goals and nine assists in 17 games since being sent down.
• Hayes and Rafael Harvey-Pinard each hit the 12-goal mark. Aidan McDonough scored his ninth, Owen Pickering his fifth, Boko Imama his sixth, and Nolan Renwick his second.
• Emil Pieniniemi played his second AHL game since being recalled from Wheeling and earned his first AHL point with the secondary assist on Renwick's goal.
• Joel Blomqvist stopped 23 of 25 shots.
• Imama had an early fight, but finished an assist shy of the Gordie Howe hat trick.
