Arturs Silovs stopped 26 of 29 shots in Latvia's 4-3 win over Germany on Saturday. It was Latvia's first time winning a game in the Olympics since 2014 and fourth win ever at the Olympics. Leon Draisaitl had 10 of Germany's 29 shots, and Silovs stopped all 10.
"Considering that we are a small country, less is expected of us," Silovs told the Latvian outlet SportaCentrs. "We have to prove otherwise. Anything can happen in one game. If we fight, good things will happen to us."
Former Penguin Dominik Kahun had an assist for Germany, and former Penguins prospect Freddie Tiffels also had an assist. Former Nailer Renars Krastenbergs had a goal and an assist for Latvia.
