The Penguins will hold a 10:30 a.m. morning skate in advance of tonight's game against the Blue Jackets. I'll have updates here.
• Stuck around a little bit and the non-game group practiced. Filip Hallander skated with those guys, so he's presumably the healthy scratch tonight of the 13 forwards on the game roster. Erik Karlsson and Rickard Rakell just took the option, something the staff is encouraging players to do if they feel like it's what they need.
• Dan Muse confirms it was an optional skate.
• Marc-Andre Fleury said he was given the option of the first or third period. He chose the third so he could potentially win the game and potentially have a shot at an empty net.
• Sidney Crosby says Marc-Andre Fleury’s son hid a fart machine in his locker.
• Sounds like it’s an optional skate and Karlsson was the only one to take the option. Just saw him walking around.
• Sergei Murashov will play the first two periods. Marc-Andre Fleury will play the third. So, if they’re up … Fleury could get a chance to score.
• Bryan Rust scored on Marc-Andre Fleury and gave an exaggerated fist pump as Fleury yelled at him.
• The lines and pairings. Want to note that Ben Kindel didn't take any rushes at center, he had been a center the last two games. Could still play center tonight, we'll see.
Avery Hayes - Sidney Crosby - Bryan Rust Justin Brazeau - Evgeni Malkin - Anthony Mantha Ville Koivunen - Atley Calvert - Ben Kindel Boko Imama - Tristan Broz - Rafael Harvey-Pinard
Owen Pickering - Kris Letang Phil Kemp - Harrison Brunicke Caleb Jones/Parker Wotherspoon - Finn Harding
• Erik Karlsson is on the game roster too and I don't see him out here. Phil Kemp is not on the game roster but he is out here. Rickard Rakell is also not skating, and Atley Calvert is despite not being on the game roster.
• Filip Hallander is on the game roster but I don't see him out here, he played last night too. Might just be giving him the morning off. Just 12 forwards out here, and there were 13 on the game roster.
• Marc-Andre Fleury is on the ice for the morning skate.
