Crosby corralled a loose puck off the faceoff and ripped that wrister past KevinLankinen with what looked like relative ease to give the Penguins a two-goal cushion, entered tonight tied with Lemieux with 1,895 career points. He did, however, amass his total over 1,532 regular-season/playoff games. Lemieux's was over 1,022.
"It took me probably 500 more games and I've been here for a long time and have been fortunate to play with some great players," Crosby said. "That's how I look at it."
SteveYzerman is next on the all-time list with 1,940 combined points between the regular season and postseason. WayneGretzky sits atop the list with 3,237 points, more than 1,000 more than MarkMessier in second place (2,181).
"He's going to keep it going," KrisLetang said of Crosby. "When you're at that age and playing at this level still, you're going to catch those big names on the board. There's nothing more to beat on our team pretty much, but that's the type of player he is. He's always looking to be better and thrive even more."
