• GOAL: Novak to Letang for the game winner. Penguins rally from a two-goal deficit to collect two points and earn their first OT win of the year. Penguins 4, Blue Jackets 3
• Three of Columbus' previous four games ended in OT.
• End regulation: Penguins will play in their sixth game past regulation. Still without a win. Two losses in OT, three in SOs.
• GOAL: Novak chips it in and Crosby ties it with 11:32 remaining in regulation. Wow. Tied at 3-3
• Jarry with a huge pad save on a key chance in close by Lundestrom. There's Coyle again, too, with the feed.
• Perhaps the best this team has looked all night. Columbus has looked like a team that isn't very good in third periods. Which they are.
• GOAL: Quick response. Took 13 seconds for Rust to bury one past Greaves. Good to see him back out there. Been beat up tonight. Blue Jackets 3, Penguins 2
• Puck drops for the third.
• End second period: Blue Jackets held a 12-7 shot advantage in the period.
• GOAL: Excellent work by Coyle to keep the puck in the offensive zone, fending off two defenders in Letang and Hayes. Dishes off a pass to Werenski, who beats Jarry. Back breaker with just four seconds left in the period. Blue Jackets 3, Penguins 1
• Rust is hobbling down the tunnel once again after being knocked into the side of the net. Was slow coming off.
• One of the better opportunties of the period for Karlsson after a rather nice sequence there for Lizotte. Ends in a Greaves save.
• It would be an understatement to say Columbus has dominated this period. Just look at the shot totals. They have a 6-2 edge, and nothing has truly threatened Greaves in this period.
• Gotta give Jarry credit. He was forced into some real tough situations on those two goals, but he's been strong once again.
• Severson was a cross bar away from making this a two-goal game.
• Jackets to the power play now with 12:48 to go in the second. Malkin gets two minutes for tripping.
• Rust went down the tunnel for a period of time after a collision with Malkin but has returned to the bench. Just a brutal power-play sequence for the Penguins.
• GOAL: Jackets take advantage of a short-handed opportunity. Wood to Gaunce on a 2-on-1 chance. Patience pays off there for Wood. Time: 3:51. Blue Jackets 2, Penguins 1
• Johnson for tripping.
• Hayes is taken down from behind by Johnson. Delayed penalty. Penguins treating it as a power play before the whistle sounds. Jackets haven't maintained possession.
• Second period underway.
• Physical first period for Wotherspoon, who totaled three of the Penguins' nine hits.
• End first period: Jarry makes one last save at the buzzer to keep things even. Blue Jackets with a slim 8-7 advantage in shots on goal. They had 24 shot attempts compared to 19 for the Penguins.
• Penguins will go on the PK for the first time tonight. Power play will last the rest of the first period and into the second. Hayes for holding.
• Ugly stuff there by Graves, too. Looked like Novak just left Monahan open there.
• GOAL: Monahan buries one in close. No one there around him. Jarry had no chance. Time: 13:40. Tied at 1-1
• Man, Pinelli had a prime opportunity to let one go in close, but he whiffed on the shot.
• Just as many cheers as boos when that Crosby goal was announced.
• GOAL: Penguins generate some pressure in the offensive zone and eventually Letang dishes to Crosby for the game's opening goal. On one knee. Time: 6:10. Penguins 1, Blue Jackets 0
• Jarry shuts down a short-handed chance by Monahan. Ugly start to this game by the visitors.
• Penguins heading on the power play with 17:35 on the clock. Former Penguin Aston-Reese to the box for high sticking.
• Beauty of an opportunity there in close for Severson. Worked his way around the defense before getting a shot off that eventually went out of play. Already four shot attempts -- one on goal -- in the opening two minutes for the Jackets.
• Blue Jackets already with some pressure and pucks to the net in the first minute.
