I kept seeing Sergei Murashov and Stuart Skinner deep in conversation in the press box during Sunday's game, after Skinner missed the game with his eye injury and Murashov showed up during the game.
I asked Skinner after the Penguins' practice on Tuesday what it was like meeting the rookie goaltender, and he broke into a smile.
"He seems like an amazing guy," Skinner raved. "I didn't know he was only 22. We got to talk, talked a little bit about hockey, talked about some family, and he just seems like a stand-up guy. I was really happy to get on the ice with him (today at practice). I was super excited for that. I feel like we've just got a really good group of guys in here, and obviously him being a part of that. My first impression is only good things."
Murashov called their time together a "great conversation."
"I shared experience from my career, from his, it was nice to hear some stories about his journey," Murashov said. "He's a great guy. Awesome to be around, awesome to look how he's working and pick up a few things. Not much yet, but I hope he wouldn't be mad when I take some things from him."
