• Ballgame. There’ll be better days.
• Empty Net finally gives one up.
• Heading downstairs, guys. Treat it like it's a Pirates game. ;)
• GOAL. That's five goals on 15 Vegas shots. Eichel this time. Assists: Barbashev, Theodore. Time: 6:20, third period. Golden Knights, 5-2
• Two-on-one for Rust/Chinakhov, but Rust couldn't get across in time.
• GOAL. And there it is. Dorofyev's second. Center of the net on a one-timer. Vegas' fourth goal on 13 shots on Silovs. Golden Knights, 4-2
• Choppy start to the third period. Still can't believe they're losing this.
• Two-goal rallies in the previous two games. Why not this one?
• That's period. I'll say it again: This needs to be a W. This opponent's just not that good.
• Outstanding rush by Chinakhov. My goodness.
• GOAL. Kindel redirect. Right after I bought a photo that looks like Vegas won. Happens every time. Assists: Mantha, Shea. Time: 16:22, second. Golden Knights, 3-2
• Even better from PP2. Still nothing doing.
• First good-looking setup in some time. Not enough shots.
• Power play coming. Marner for tripping Novak. Might want to score here.
• GOAL. Given right back. As in, Dewar gave the puck away at center ice, and Silovs grossly over-committed on Marner. Good Lord. That's three goals on nine shots for the home team. Assist: Dorofyev. Time: 9:20, second period. Golden Knights, 3-1
• GOAL. Rust shoved it through the crease to Rakell. Other assist: Shea. Sign of life? Time: 8:26, second period. Golden Knights, 2-1
• GOAL. Silovs beaten short-side, upstairs. Dorofyev's 31st. He pounces on a puck that pops loose from below the Pittsburgh goal line. There's a really good chance at two points being blown here. Assists: Korczak, Bowman. Time: 5:02, second period. Golden Knights, 2-0
• Ugh. Karlsson dances through the entire upper PK ... then passes.
• Andersson steps in front of Koivunen for another obvious interference. First power play.
• End period. Shots are 6-6. There just isn't a whole lot of sharpness here from the visitors. It's not one or two guys. They're facing an opponent that's moving like molasses, and they're moving at the same rate. It's just not a good look, heavy travel or not.
• Can't get over how easy the zone exits and entries are against these guys. This game's here to be had. Just need to take it.
• GOAL. Wotherspoon hasn't played his best hockey of late, and that giveaway up the left boards is another example. Just no confidence. Sissons with the tap-in. Assist: Bowman. Time: 8:41, first period. Golden Knights, 1-0
• An inviting amount of room in the neutral zone for the visitors thus far. That bodes well. The Penguins are a fast team, contrary to popular misperception.
• Karlsson already making magic. What a winter he's having, you guys.
• Faceoff: Lizotte vs. Dowd, 10:08 p.m. Eastern
• The volume in here ... I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. This isn't a good experience. And I've been to KISS concerts. This is beyond that.
• Tons of fans here supporting the Penguins. Outside, too. All over the place.
• Dan Muse's lines and pairings:
Egor Chinakhov-Rickard Rakell-Bryan Rust Anthony Mantha-Tommy Novak-Ville Koivunen Elmer Soderblom-Ben Kindel-Avery Hayes Connor Dewar-Blake Lizotte-Noel Acciari
Parker Wotherspoon-Erik Karlsson Ryan Shea-Kris Letang Ilya Solovyov-Connor Clifton
