The Penguins on Sunday gave up their exclusive signing rights to forward Cooper Foster. A team official confirmed that Foster was not signed before Sunday's 5 p.m. deadline to retain his rights.
Foster, who turns 20 years old on Wednesday, was the Penguins' 2023 sixth-round pick. He had 53 points (19 goals, 34 assists) in 55 games with the OHL's Ottawa 67's last season.
Foster was one of two prospects whose signing rights expire this summer. The rights to Providence College forward Chase Yoder, a 2020 sixth-round pick, expire on Aug. 15.
