Goals from third-line forwards Mya Vaslet and Nicole Hall, and a power-play tally from Katelyn Roberts gave Penn State a 3-0 lead through two periods.
No. 12 Mercyhurst got within one, on a goal with the goalie pulled by Berlin Lolocher with 1:19 remaining, but the Lakers could not find the equalizer, marking their fourth consecutive loss to the Penn State in the AHA final.
The Nittany Lions are now guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey tournament, beginning with quarterfinals on March 14.
