Jared Jones threw a bullpen session today at PNC Park prior to the weather coming in a forcing batting practice inside.
"Just keep going. He looked amazing in the bullpen today," pitching coach Bill Murphy said. "Just seeing how he recovers and taking the next step from there. But it's really exciting. It's exciting to watch him here in PNC Park."
Jones is nearing the tail end of his recover from Tommy John surgery, but will be out until at least late May being placed on the 60-day injured list at the start of the season. Today's bullpen is just another step in this recovery process, but it's an important one as he ramps up closer and closer to form.
"You're just getting a feel for what his stuff looks like and how his body's responding. All indications are he's feeling great and the stuff is in a really nice place," Murphy said. "He's ready to go. We all know Jared. He wants to compete. He's ready to go. And that's cool. But there's a process. He needs to keep building. We're pumped that he's feeling so great."
Jones might be addressing the media prior to Wednesday's game against the Nationals, but that is not set in stone just yet.
