The Pirates’ farm director position is the final leadership role in the baseball operations department that has not been filled, Ben Cherington said this week. That’s a role that currently sits vacant following John Baker’s transition into a new position overseeing the organization’s performance team.

“We’re right in the middle of that process,” Cherington said. “We’re not going to make a decision on it while we’re here in Dallas, but I expect we’re not too far away.”
