The Pirates went prep-heavy in the 2024 draft, with four of their first five picks coming from the high school ranks. Eddie Rynders was the last of the bunch, taken in the fourth round, 112th overall out of Wisconsin Lutheran High School.

They signed him to a signing bonus of $649,700, the full slot amount for the 112th pick.

Scouts love his raw power and think he could become a prototypical hitting third baseman after playing shortstop in high school. While the raw power stands out right now, Rynders has been noted for his ability to use all fields.

Rynders, 19, didn't make his official debut in 2024 but did get a few games in at the Bridge League. 

He'll likely start 2025 in the Florida Complex League, with an opportunity to finish the season in Bradenton.

Rynders has been getting a lot of buzz as a potential under-the-radar pickup for the Pirates, mainly due to the raw power that comes from his strong 6'2" frame.
