Mitch Jebb (left thumb fracture) was placed on the minor-league injured list at Class AAA Indianapolis and is facing a 12-week return to baseball activities after undergoing surgery to repair additional ligaments on Wednesday, per Todd Tomczyk.
Jebb sustained the injury trying to beat out a ground ball in his most recent game with Indianapolis. He attempted to avoid the tag of a pitcher, diving head first into first base with his left hand. Jebb played in six games for Indy after being promoted on April 21. He hit .375 with two home runs, five RBIs and two stolen bases in his brief stint.
Jebb isn't the only minor leaguer to undergo surgery, as AnthonySolometo is scheduled to undergo a procedure today to repair the labrum in his left shoulder. That's expected to put him out for about 12 months, Tomczyk said. Dr. Keith Meister is performing the surgery.
Additional updates from Tomczyk:
• JaredJones (elbow) is recovery normally after his three innings with Class A Bradenton on Wednesday. He's going to throw a side in the coming days and prepare for his next start. The destination for his next start will be decided after his next bullpen session.
• JaredTriolo (knee) is currently playing for Class AA Altoona and is expected to play in back-to-back games today and tomorrow. He'll continue to be assessed after every game to see how he's recovering and go through the steps with DonKelly and BenCherington to determine the next steps.
• JhostynxonGarcia (back) has transitioned his rehab down to Florida and he's expected to play in games in the coming days.
• MikeClevinger (knee) is out of his brace and has transitioned into a functional sports brace to play catch. He's still facing a six-to-eight-week time frame.
