Chandler's 'perfect throw' leads to critical double play
One of the more crucial defensive plays made here tonight came in the third inning when Bubba Chandler caught this bunt attempt by TJFriedl and fired a dart to NickGonzales at second base to double off JoséTrevino:
"Glad I was able to do something like that," said Chandler, who had just walked two batters and seen a run come across to score on a BryanReynolds error. "That's cool. I'm gonna probably screen record that video, watch it every day."
The look on Brandon Lowe's face toward the end of that clip truly says it all. Pure amazement that Chandler was able to execute in that situation.
“I came up to him after and told him, ‘Who told you that you could be an athlete?’" Lowe said. "Honestly, in my head, I was, ‘No, don’t throw that!’ Then he threw it and that could not have been a more perfect throw. I went back and watched the replay, and one foot is going this way, an arm is going this way. To be able to make that play, it was a huge moment in the game, as well. For him to take it upon himself and do it, it was pretty cool to watch.”
