Both Brandon Lowe (right knee tightness) and Spencer Horwitz (neck discomfort) are back in the Pirates’ lineup tonight against the Rangers.
Lowe missed the last two games and Horwitz was scratched from last night’s lineup. It’s a good time for those two to return, as left-handed hitters are batting .324 against Jack Leiter, tonight’s Rangers starter, this season.
“They’re hugely important to our lineup and lengthening it out,” Don Kelly said. “When we’re clicking and committed to that approach we talked about, continuing to pass the baton and lengthen out the lineup, I think our team has done a really good job … the game on Sunday, having some guys unavailable, then Billy Cook and (Jake) Mangum getting in there, being able to play their game and help us win, we’ve got a lot of different ways to attack. But when you can get Lowe and Spencer in there, it’s really important for us to have them in there.”
